Indoor Season Notes

1)  Ohio Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (OACCC) indoor season track and field is a recognized high-school sport in Hilliard, sanctioned by the school board.  As such Davidson athletes are eligible to compete in the OATCCC Indoor State Championship Meet if they qualify.  Indoor track is not a recognized sport by the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA).  However, meets are conducted within the rules of the OHSAA and the meets are officiated by OHSAA officials.

2)  Track shoes, commonly referred to as "spikes", are recommended for the sport of indoor track and field, but are not mandatory.  The length of the removable spike in the bottom of the shoe cannot exceed 1/4" and must be of the "pyramid" type (NO NEEDLE SPIKES!).  A good place to purchase spikes is the FrontRunner on Lane Ave.  The sales personnel are very knowledgeable and will take the time to properly fit an athlete and recommend the right type of spike for the different events.  There is also a high-school athlete discount.

3)  Transportation to and from indoor meets is usually provided by the coaches and volunteer parents.  It is not mandatory to use the provided transportation i.e. parents or athletes may transport themselves to the meets.  It is not mandatory to remain for the entire meet.  Once your events are complete you may leave, as long as the coaches know you're leaving.

4)  The events an athlete competes in at meets is determined by the coaches and the desires of the athlete.  There is a four-event limit per individual athlete, including relays.  Relays tend to take priority over individual events, but not always.

5)  Fees for indoor track vary from meet to meet, but there is almost always a fee.  Fees are the responsibility of the athlete, but the team does have an account to assist athletes who can't make their fees.  No athlete will be prevented from competing due to fees.  See the coaches for more details.  All inquiries are held in strict confidence.

6)  The coaches take care of meet registration and payment.  Athletes remit fees to the coaches.
